Such rage.
I guess I should just book it.

Book: Impulse by Ellen Hopkins

Rating: 3/5 stars
This book follows the lives of 3 teenagers admitted to a psychiatric hospital because they tried to commit suicide. Their life stories, and why they attempted suicide, are revealed over the course of the novel.
Again, I like the writing style of this author. I enjoyed discovering what led to the characters' suicide attempts and how it changed their lives. It was pretty predictable, but it had a good ending!

Book: Crank by Ellen Hopkins

Rating: 4/5 stars
This novel follows a teenage girl addicted to Crank.
The chapters are all written as short poems, which makes it very easy to read. The story is captivating, as it gives an in-depth look into a young girl's life when she is addicted to drugs. It illustrates her entire journey with drugs up until she decides to quit. She hits many obstacles along the way. Overall, it is a disturbing and thought-provoking story.
Sequel: Glass

Movie: The Invisible

Rating: 5/5 stars
A teenager gets beaten up and soon wakes up invisible. Assuming he's dead, he starts trying to control the investigation into the search for his body, while following around the other characters.
I am a huge fan of this movie (along with its soundtrack)! I love the actors, I love the story, I love it all! The story is intense and draws you into the lives of each character. It contains a lot of diverse emotions, taking you on an intense roller coaster ride (oh how cliché)! Everyone needs to see this movie!!!!!!!

Movie: Grimm Love

Rating: 0.5/5 stars
A college student starts doing research for her thesis on a cannibal and the man he ate. The film illustrates what happened on the night the cannibal struck and then flips back to the researcher's progress.
If you want to see some freaky stuff while trying to understand the psyche of a cannibal and someone who wants to be eaten, then you should watch this movie. Otherwise, run away from it. It was disturbing in so many ways. The content was beyond anything found in any other cannibal movie (so I gave it .5 for being unique). Also, the main female character seems totally unnecessary because the story of the cannibal she is researching is plenty frightening without her own twisted story added in. The story was too much for me and will probably haunt me until I can repress the memory of ever having seen it.

Movie: Obsessed

Rating: 1/5 stars
A woman starts working as an assistant in an office and soon starts stalking her boss.
I only give it 1 star because it was so lame it was funny. It was so insanely predictable and corny that it almost wasn't worth watching. The only funny part was how the main male character dealt with the stalker woman trying to seduce him and when that same lady started a fight with his wife, played by Beyonce. It was funny, but in no way a unique film. In my opinion, it's not worth watching.

Movie: Knowing

Rating: 3/5 stars
A kid finds a long list of numbers in a time vault at his school. His father discovers that the numbers correspond to the days of disasters all over the world. He has to avoid the next numbers, which happen in the future, and save his son.
There were some intense moments, although I wasn't expecting this movie to be so sci-fi; the commercials are a tad misleading. For me, the ending completely redeemed the movie. I was not expecting it and I thought it was a very interesting way to finish the story. Some parts are a little bit 'out there' but overall, it is a good movie with a great ending! I'm not sure the casting was quite right (I don't think Nicolas Cage was the best man for the part) but it didn't matter because the script was well-written!

Movie: The Haunting In Connecticut

Rating: 5/5 stars
A family, including a son with cancer, move into a new house. The son starts seeing people in the house, and his family assumes it is due to his cancer treatment. They soon discover the house used to be a funeral home and accept that the people may not be hallucinations.
This movie combines hauntings and hallucinations in a shocking hollywood style film based on real events. I saw the story based all on true facts before I even knew they were making a hollywood movie out of it. Even though I was aware of the extra dramatization, I was still completely drawn into the movie. I knew how it was going to end, but I still had to watch the whole thing just to see what they were gonna do to it. The special effects in this film were beyond impressive! I would recommend this movie to anyone who enjoys a good ghostly scare (they keep coming in this one!).

Book: The Chalk Circle Man by Fred Vargas

Rating: 2/5 stars
Chalk circles start turning up in the city of Paris, surrounding random objects; a pen, a book, etc. Soon bodies appear in the circles, and the Inspector must solve the crimes.
It's not that the mystery set up by the author isn't intriguing; all the details fit together perfectly and leave no questions unanswered. It had a good plot, it was mildly interesting, but it seemed as if it was all just laid out for you, no thought required. I found it boring, which honestly made it hard to read right up until the end. I won't deny that it provides a good story for mystery novel buffs, but I simply do not prefer this type of novel. I love the characters' names!

Book: Under The Skin by Michel Faber

Rating: 4/5 stars
Isserley sets out from the farm every day to pick up hitch hikers. She tries to get to know them before she kidnaps them. The details of her kidnappings, as well as of her personal life, are slowly revealed during the course of the novel.
I was pleasantly surprised by this book. It is not at all what I expected from reading the back (never judge a book by its cover?). I love the author's style; how he slowly (and with perfect timing) gave readers the clues to figure out just what Isserley's life entails. It was shocking and deeply disturbing right up until the (only slightly predictable) conclusion. The book, set far from today's society, still has the power to make the reader question their morals and beliefs about society. The author has a special style that draws you in slowly and keeps you flipping the pages until the dramatic last one.

Movie: Watchmen

Rating: 2/5 stars (keep in mind, I have never read the original graphic novel, and I only really watched the movie for the soundtrack)
Based on the original graphic novels, this film is about retired vigilantes trying to discover who murdered another one of the vigilantes.
I'm not the best critic for this movie because I had never read any of the stories about the Watchmen before seeing it. Therefore, I was a tad bit confused because I had no idea what was going on for half of the film. All I know is that the best part of the movie (for me) was the credits because Desolation Row (sang by My Chemical Romance, written by Bob Dylan) played during them! I also like the shot smiley face:) Very nice. But overall, I didn't really get that into the movie. I did, however, like some of the things that Rorschach said. He might not have a face, but he definitely has an opinion.

Movie: The Horsemen

Rating: 4.5/5 stars
A detective is trying to solve a string of gruesome murders, while dealing with the grief of losing his wife and connecting with his two sons. He soon discovers the murders may have more meaning than he first expected.
I was not expecting this movie to be as captivating as it was, but it was intense. Some parts were pretty gruesome, including the ending, which included a very thought-provoking speech. In my opinion, this movie had a good message and it definitely used the 'shock' method to imprint it on viewers' brains. I thoroughly enjoyed this film, beginning to end!

Book: Pilgrim by Timothy Findley

Rating: 5/5
Pilgrim is a very interesting novel that follows the life of Carl Gustav Jung, psychiatrist and physician, at the Burghölzli Clinic in Zürich, Switzerland. This novel contains many facts that makes this novel very educational :) One thing that I really enjoyed about this novel is that it gives you a lot to think about, so after spending 38 hours awake watching one good movie, one bad movie and lots of Grey's Anatomy, here is the reflection I had:

"Pilgrim. Grateful for life of not? Man who lives forever wants to die? The wishes of many are his reality and yet chooses to throw it away? Life's choices aren't always the best, but there is always a reason, for better or for worse? Its one of the other... Will that wake you up to your options? No death but reincarnation? Worth the effort of trying to take your fate into your own hands?"

Movie: 12 Rounds

Rating: 3.75/5 stars
A police officer accidentally causes the death of a criminal's girlfriend. When the criminal gets out of prison, he wants revenge and sends the police officer on a wild adventure through the city, on which he gives him 12 tasks to complete to save his wife.
I know that is a really random rating, but i couldn't give it less than that, and a 4 would have been too much. It was intense and action-packed, although slightly predictable and totally corny. The plot had potential, but the writing was mediocre and filled with lame, overused clichés. People who enjoy movies filled with revenge-fuelled cruelty and violence will enjoy this film.

Movie: The Uninvited

Rating: 5/5 stars
A teenage girl is released from a psychiatric hospital after attempting suicide. She returns home but has trouble accepting the death of her mother and her new stepmother. She is soon convinced that her stepmother is responsible for her mother's death and desperately tries to save herself.
I absolutely love this movie; mostly because not only is it a creepy horror flick, but it has a psychological twist to it! Plus, I think the actress, Emily Browning, is awesome. The story kept surprising me up until the very shocking end and it all made sense (which seems to be way too hard for movies to accomplish these days). Good movie!!

Movie: The Time Traveler's Wife

Rating: 2/5 stars (keeping in mind I never read the book)
Based on the novel by Audrey Nieffenegger, the film is about a woman who marries a man that she met as a child when he travelled back in time to see her. This film shows the consequences of time traveling on both of their lives.
I would give this movie only 2 stars simply because it was predictable. This is mostly because he travels forward in time, so at the beginning of the movie, he tells you how it's going to end. There are no surprises, which made it pretty boring, but it was entertaining enough to merit a star or two. At least the actors in this film are talented!

Movie: Adventureland

Rating: 0/5 stars
Bad acting. Bad jokes. No plot. Enough said.

Book: Trainspotting by Irvine Welsh

Rating: 3.5/5 stars
This book follows the lives of a group of drug addicts in London. It shares the details of their personal lives and their struggles with addiction, as well as their experiences while on their drug of choice-heroin. It also portrays the hardships of being diagnosed with HIV/AIDS, on the junkies and others affected by this disease.

Trainspotting offers a fascinating glance into the perspective of drug addicts; a perspective that is rarely expressed in so much detail. Due to the rough lives of the characters some of the content was slightly disturbing. Also, it took a chapter or two to get used to the language. It is mostly written as if spoken with a Scottish accent, so it was hard to get the hang of it. But, I enjoyed the book because it shared a view of society that I found intriguing. I think Welsh's development of the characters truly merits all the praise this author has received.

Movie: The Last House On The Left

Rating: 4/5 stars
A small family kidnap and torture a young girl and her friend. They leave the young girl in the woods and, hit by a bad storm, take refuge in a house with a woman and her husband (the parents of the young girl). When the young girl makes it home in the middle of the night, they decide to kill the kidnappers.

This is an awesome movie, but it is not for the faint of heart. It was so brutal and gory that it even made me feel sick at one point (and that's saying a lot). Besides the gore, it is also really disturbing in its content, particularly the torture scenes. Overall, it has a good story and its intense up until the last scene, which ended with a (bloody) bang.

Movie: (500) Days Of Summer

Rating: 1/5 stars or take the 5 from 500 to rate the random fly buzzing around the theatre and the 00 for the movie.
Overall, the movie was lame and the actress, Zooey Deschannel, was pretty terrible and, at times, creepy looking. The only good part about this movie was what the guy said about how fake and stupid greeting cards are, which is why I gave it a 1.

7N License

Whats to be excited for though? My mom doesn't seem like she's going to let me drive on my own anyway :S
Either way, I'm not really excited now, more like relieved because holy beef I was scared :O I got really nervous.. halfway through

Anyway, Canada Line: apparently your fortune cookie was right! (Not that they're going to give you a blackberry, but) Phones actually work underground on the Canada Line! :O shocking.. which probably means its not deep enough and that worries me :S I agree with Christine, I probably won't ride it for a year anyway, just in case of any malfunctions or something?

PS please feed the fish, they look hungry!

Why Hullo Strangers.

Your Canada Line adventure sounds very... interesting!

Ummmm so...

JOYCE GOT HER LICENCE!!!!!
I think I'm more excited about it than she is.

Canada Line

So, rant huh? I waited in line for at least an hour and a half to ride the Canada Line for free. I know...I'm one of those losers who will waste a lot of time for free stuff haha. Overall: It was lame. I guess it's hard to judge when it's so busy. I went to the airport and my personal space was invaded the entire time. It wasn't really worth the free fortune cookie (Fortune: That I can use my Blackberry on the Canada Line....only if they provide me with the Blackberry) or the free popsicles, but I guess now that it's not going to be so busy, it will be a useful means of transportation for some:).

PS. I love feeding the fish!

PPS. I like the drawing thing at the top:) So artistic...accidental artists? haha

WELCOME!

This is random, but luckily, guess what? We can delete posts :O umm
Wow you can have followers on blogspot now? How very twitter like :S
I say, since this is about three eclectic teens (?), we can rant :)
(...wow that wasn't intended to make it sound like teens rant a lot..oops)
And we can post about our band progress?
About our Peta2 Missions..
Anything that comes to mind, because these are all the things that we happen to do?

Anyone who's on here, and would like to rant, I have a few starting suggestions:

-age limits? 18 and up
-age-ism haha wow everything I think of right now is about age
-Wendy's evil drive-thru that's anger-ing and spelt wrong!!
-things that aren't allowed for profitable reasons aka. movie theatres and concerts (no food or drinks?!)
-...i can't think of anything else so...

Blog, rant and have fun :)

Hopefully, this will be entertaining?
